‘Full of Laughter and Positivity’: Pennine View Celebrates 8th Outstanding Ofsted Rating
We’re absolutely thrilled to share that Pennine View has once again been rated Outstanding by Ofsted for the eighth time in a row!
Since 2016, our home just outside Barnsley has continued to receive the highest possible rating, and following our latest inspection in March, we’re proud to say we’ve been rated Outstanding in all areas.
The inspectors recognised what we see every day – the warmth, progress, and dedication that define life at Pennine View. They praised our atmosphere, the incredible steps our children are making, and the unwavering commitment of our team. The report captured it beautifully, saying:
“Children live in a home that is full of laughter and positivity. They have strong, trusting relationships with staff. This helps children to continue to make exceptional progress in every area of their lives.”
This recognition is incredibly meaningful to us, and it’s a reflection of the love, teamwork, and resilience that everyone brings to Pennine View every single day.

Dawn Jackson, our registered manager at Pennine View, was praised in the report as an ‘inspirational role model’. Reflecting on the achievement, she said:
“It’s a whole-team effort to provide a loving and safe home for the children in our care and I’m incredibly proud of the staff for all they do to care for our children and to better themselves as children’s services professionals.”
“There is a very fulfilling career path in working with children in any setting, but we invite anyone interested in the work we do here who thinks they could make a real difference to consider a career improving outcomes for children.”
We’re also proud to share the wonderful feedback Pennine View received during our recent inspection and even prouder of the children, staff, and families who make our home the special place it is. Staff shared how much they value their roles, saying they feel ‘proud of the skills they have acquired and their ability to safeguard children’ and that coming to work is a true ‘privilege.’ We also heard from parents, whose words meant the world to us. They described Pennine View as a ‘real home’ with staff ‘who work tirelessly, are great communicators, and never give up.’
The most powerful feedback, as always, came from the children. Every child living at Pennine View spoke with the inspector, and their thoughts really captured the spirit of the home. One child said:
“There is nothing they could do better.”
Another shared:
“Staff make lots of time for us, help with anything. When I struggle with stuff, they help me understand and when I feel more confident I have a go myself.”
Their words are a true reflection of the care, dedication, and love that fill our home every day. Thank you to everyone, staff, families, and especially our young people for being part of what makes Pennine View so special
